Feast On This: Relais & Châteaux GourmetFest In Carmel, March 5-8

Relais & Châteaux restaurants and hotels around the world represent the epitome of the “art of living” and GourmetFest on March 5-8 gives you a tantalizing taste of it in one beautiful seaside location. Headlined by an international roster of Relais & Châteaux chefs, the 4-day food and wine festival features 18 events including one-of-a-kind culinary demos, sumptuous dining, and sublime wine tastings by the world’s great wine estates and over 20 acclaimed chefs. Delectable Dinners

Savor the international flavors of fine dining with “Cuisine & Wines of the World Dinner” ($295/pp) prepared by Relais & Châteaux chefs including Gary Danko, or indulge in the rarified with the very limited seating “Rarities Dinner” ($5,500), a signature, ten-course sensorial experience with Michelin 3 star chef Michel Bras of Bras, Olivier Roellinger, Tetsuya and Aubergine’s Justin Cogley. The dishes are perfectly paired with the great wines of Dom Perignon, Ridge Vineyards, and Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue.

Rare Burgundy

Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue is one of Burgundy’s finest estates with over five centuries and 20 generations in Chambolle-Musigny, which in turn produces Burgundy’s most beautiful and lilting Pinot Noir wines. The Domaine is also synonymous with Musigny Grand Cru, a crown jewel of the Cote de Nuits. Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue ambassador Jean Luc Pepin will lead an extraordinary and rare vertical of this wine covering three decades at the "Terroir of Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue" tasting ($595/pp).

Grands Dames Gastronomy

Ground-breaking women team up for “Grand Women Chefs & Winemakers Lunch & Cooking Demo" ($175/pp) starting with the demo by Michelin 3 star chef Annie Feolde of Tuscany's Enoteca Pinchiorri followed by a 4-course lunch prepared by a stellar team of women chefs and featuring the wines of Spottswoode and Gaja.

Redefining One of Italy’s Greatest Red Wines, Barbaresco

Barbaresco is often considered the queen to Barolo’s king when it comes to Piemonte’s Nebbiolo grape, transformed into one of Italy’s most powerful and long-lived wines. Gaia Gaja, fifth generation owner of the venerable wine estate, wants to change that perception. At a Grandi Marchi tasting, Gaia characterized Barbaresco as “ethereal, not feminine, with a distinct less is more quality.” This is particularly true with Gaja’s wines, which hail from 14 distinct estate vineyards on the best south-facing slopes in the historic Barbaresco zone. In “A Journey Through Barbaresco” ($595/pp) Gaia will illustrate both the beauty, and the power, of Barbaresco through a vertical tasting of wines including Sori Tildin and San Lorenzo single vineyards.
