“The house was already under demo when I started,” says interior designer Serena Armstrong of the Ross, California renovation she oversaw for a newly divorced father and his three sons. “There wasn’t an architect and it was kind of ‘Can you start yesterday?’” Although there weren’t walls being moved, the spaces needed to be cosmetically changed. The kitchen and the bathroom were down to the studs. The house itself needed to be completed before furnishing could begin “There was a lot of sketching and CAD drawings to be done,” she remembers.
